Boston’s Irish Pub on Wheels

Founders, Michael John Queally & Barry Shannon of The Wandering Druid, a mobile Irish pub available for rent in the Greater Boston Area.

How The Wandering Druid came to be…

After growing up in Doolin, Co. Clare on the west coast of Ireland, Wandering Druid co-founders Barry Shannon and Michael John Queally found themselves working behind the bar at The Druid pub in Inman Square in Cambridge MA, a long standing Irish pub owned by yet another Clare man; Mikey Crawford of Ennistymon.

The idea for The Wandering Druid was born from the frequent requests to host weddings, parties and private events in The Druid. With its commitment to the local community and the regulars who make The Druid what it is, such requests just couldn’t be fulfilled as The Druid has always kept its doors open to the public.

Inspired by a mobile Irish pub business based in Co. Galway which brought one of its tiny pubs on wheels to Boston in 2016, Barry & Michael John decided it was time to take the spirit and atmosphere of The Druid to the customers instead. The result is The Wandering Druid, a miniature Irish pub on wheels, built in the image of The Druid, ready to be delivered to homes and venues all over New England.

“The Wandering Druid is the kind of bar that guests truly fall in love with. It’s the quintessential Irish pub; small, cozy, romantic and with a hint of mystery. For years we’ve been asked to bartend weddings, private events, birthday parties etc. and we’ve wanted to be able to give people that opportunity and experience for a long time, and now we can. We are a 100% Irish owned and operated business, and what we offer our customers is a true, genuine Irish experience in every sense. We’re not just another tiny house on wheels pretending to be an Irish pub, we built a real-life Irish pub that just so happens to be on wheels!”

“The worst thing about some men is that when they are not drunk they are sober.”

William Butler Yeats
